Where can Indian River County voters vote early for the November 3, 2026 election?
For the November 3, 2026 General Election, any registered county voter may vote early, October 19 to 31, at Sebastian City Hall, the Main Library in Vero Beach, the Supervisor of Elections office on 43rd Avenue or the Intergenerational Recreation Center.
| Site | Address | Days and hours |
|---|---|---|
| Sebastian City Hall Council Chambers | 1225 Main Street, Sebastian | October 19 to 31, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursdays to 6 p.m. |
| Indian River County Main Library | 1600 21st Street, Vero Beach | Same schedule |
| Supervisor of Elections office | 4375 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach | Same schedule |
| Intergenerational Recreation Center, Room 112 | 1590 9th Street SW, Vero Beach | Same schedule |
The Supervisor of Elections posts one schedule for all four places: October 19th through October 31st, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with extended hours on Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Early Voting Information). Weekend days are included; counted from the posted dates, the 13 day stretch from Monday, October 19 to Saturday, October 31 covers two Saturdays and one Sunday. A voter who lives in Fellsmere, Roseland or the Vero Lake Estates area is not tied to the closest site; the office states that early voting is open at any designated location, which lets a commuter who works near the iG Center vote there instead of at the Sebastian chambers.
The sites are spread unevenly. Three of the four are in Vero Beach and one is in Sebastian, and none sits on the barrier island or in Fellsmere (Upcoming Elections). Voted mail ballots may be returned at any of the four sites while it is open for early voting, through a secure intake station kept at each location (Early Voting Information). The early voting page text says voters may use any one of the three early voting locations, yet it lists four addresses; the Upcoming Elections page also lists all four, so the four-site list is the one used here.
Why does early voting in Indian River County start on October 19?
The Supervisor of Elections in Vero Beach opens early voting on the 15th day before Election Day, the earliest start Florida law allows, and closes it on the 3rd day before, so the 2026 window runs October 19 through October 31.
Section 101.657 sets a required core and optional extra days. Early voting shall begin on the 10th day before an election that contains state or federal races and end on the 3rd day before the election, for no less than 8 hours and no more than 12 hours per day at each site, and the supervisor of elections may also offer early voting on the 15th, 14th, 13th, 12th, 11th or 2nd day before (s. 101.657, Florida Statutes). Counting back from November 3, 2026 (a computed calendar count, not a figure the statute or the county states), the 3rd day before is Saturday, October 31, the 10th day before is Saturday, October 24 and the 15th day before is Monday, October 19, so the Supervisor of Elections in Vero Beach has added all five optional earlier days but not the 2nd day before, Sunday, November 1.
The daily hours also fit the statute. A shift from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. is 8 hours, the legal minimum, and the Thursday shift to 6 p.m. is 10 hours, below the 12 hour cap. The same section lets a supervisor designate a city hall, a permanent public library facility, a government-owned community center and similar public buildings as early voting sites (s. 101.657), which is the legal basis for using Sebastian City Hall and the Main Library on 21st Street. Every early voting site must let anyone in line at closing time vote (s. 101.657(1)(c)).
How is an Election Day polling place assigned in Indian River County?
On Election Day a voter in Sebastian, Fellsmere, Vero Beach or the unincorporated county must vote, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., at the polling location assigned to his or her legal address (Election Day Voting).
A voted mail ballot cannot be dropped off at any polling place that day, whether the Sebastian Community Center or the Gifford Community Center (Election Day Voting).
The precinct follows the address. The Supervisor of Elections tells voters to check the voter information card, call the Elections Office or use Find My Polling Place, and to keep the address on record current, which can be updated online or at (772) 226-4700 (Supervisor of Elections). A household that moved from Sebastian to Vero Beach and never updated its record would be sent to the old precinct. For the 2026 General Election, the Upcoming Elections page gives 772-226-4705 as the line for polling place questions and notes that all dates are subject to change (Upcoming Elections).
The lookup tool is picky. Find My Precinct asks for the house number and a slowly typed street name, with no direction or street type, and the Supervisor of Elections warns that an address cannot be copied and pasted (Find My Polling Place). A voter on 43rd Avenue in Gifford or on Highway A1A in Indian River Shores would type only the street name and then pick it from the list that appears.
Mail ballots follow separate rules on Election Day. The deadline for a completed mail ballot is 7 p.m. that day, received in hand at the elections office at 4375 43rd Avenue, and the intake stations at the early voting sites, including Sebastian City Hall, take ballots only during early voting hours, which end on October 31 (Early Voting Information).
Which polling places serve each part of Indian River County?
The county precinct directory lists 36 precincts, from Precinct 1 at Lakewood Village Club House west of Vero Beach to Precinct 36 at the North County Public Library in Sebastian, each with a normal Election Day polling place (Indian River County precinct directory).
| Area | Precincts | Polling places |
|---|---|---|
| Fellsmere | 2, 3 | Fellsmere Community Bible Church, 12 N Hickory St |
| Sebastian | 4 to 11, 36 | North County Public Library (4, 9, 36); Sebastian Community Center (5, 6); Sebastian Church of God (7); Sebastian Elks Lodge No. 2714 (8); Sebastian Christian Church (10, 11) |
| West and north of Vero Beach | 1, 12 to 17, 19, 35 | Lakewood Village Club House, 1455 90th Ave; School District of Indian River County, 6500 57th St; Realtors Association of IRC, 3250 67th St; Central Assembly of God, 6767 20th St; IRSC Richardson Center, 6155 College Ln |
| Gifford | 18 | Gifford Community Center, 4855 43rd Ave |
| Vero Beach mainland | 20 to 28 | Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall; the Lutheran church at 1850 6th Ave (21, 22, 24); Unity Church of Vero Beach; Intergenerational Recreation Center (25, 28); Morning Star Church; Royal Palm Clubhouse Vista Royale |
| Barrier island | 29 to 34 | Indian River Shores Community Center, 6001 Highway A1A (29 to 32); Christ By The Sea UMC, 3755 Highway A1A; Holy Cross Catholic Church Parish Hall, 500 Iris Ln |
Many buildings host more than one precinct. Counted by this page from the directory (a computed tally, not a number the directory states), the 36 precincts share 21 distinct polling addresses: four precincts vote at the Indian River Shores Community Center on Highway A1A, three each at Lakewood Village Club House, the Lutheran church at 1850 6th Avenue and the North County Public Library on Sebastian Boulevard (precinct directory). Precincts 25 and 28 both vote at 1590 9th St SW, the Intergenerational Recreation Center that also hosts early voting, and Precinct 35 votes at the IRSC Richardson Center on College Lane.
The directory carries its own caveat. It describes these as the normal polling locations and warns that some elections may have a different polling location, pointing voters to the Voter Information Lookup for a specific election (VoterFocus directory for Indian River County). The area groupings in the table are this page's summary of the directory's street addresses in Sebastian, Fellsmere, Gifford, Indian River Shores and Vero Beach; precinct lines are drawn by the Supervisor of Elections and do not follow city limits.
What identification do Indian River County polling places ask for?
Poll workers at every early voting site and precinct, from Sebastian City Hall to the Indian River Shores Community Center, ask for photo and signature identification, and a voter without it may vote a provisional ballot (Election Day Voting).
The accepted list is long. The Supervisor of Elections names a Florida driver's license, a Florida identification card from the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, a U.S. passport, a debit or credit card, and military, student, retirement center, neighborhood association and public assistance identification (Early Voting Information). Also accepted are a veteran health identification card from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, a concealed weapon or firearm license issued under s. 790.06, and an employee ID from a federal, state, county or municipal agency, so a City of Sebastian or Indian River County employee badge with a photo qualifies.
A photo ID without a signature needs a second document. The Supervisor of Elections asks for an additional identification with a signature in that case, then has the voter sign the precinct register or electronic device (Supervisor of Elections). Voters who need help marking a ballot tell the poll worker, and the office in Vero Beach also runs a Spanish hotline at (833) 347-2763 (Supervisor of Elections).
Campaigning stops at a set distance. The county's no-solicitation notice bars soliciting voters inside a polling place or within 150 feet of a drop box, the entrance to any polling place or an early voting site (No Solicitation Zone), a boundary that applies at Sebastian City Hall and the Main Library during early voting as much as at a church hall on Election Day.
When is the next countywide election after November 3, 2026?
After the November 3, 2026 General Election, the next scheduled statewide elections for voters in Sebastian, Vero Beach and Fellsmere fall in 2028, a presidential year, with a primary 11 weeks before the November general election.
This page will be refreshed with the 2028 sites once the Supervisor of Elections in Vero Beach posts them.
The calendar comes from state law. The Florida Division of Elections states that a general election is held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of every even-numbered year, that a primary election is held 11 weeks before the general election, and that a president is elected in a year which is a multiple of four, with a Presidential Preference Primary (Florida Division of Elections). The same page notes that local elections may also be held throughout the year, so a city ballot in Vero Beach, Sebastian, Fellsmere or Indian River Shores, or a special election, can come sooner.
Sites can change between elections. Early voting locations, hours and precinct polling places are set by the Supervisor of Elections for each election, and the Upcoming Elections page is the first place each new schedule appears (Upcoming Elections). The office at 4375 43rd Avenue keeps weekday hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Last verified: October 12, 2026, on the Indian River County Supervisor of Elections website, voteindianriver.gov.
