Local Rips collects nothing about the person who rips a pack. There is no customer account, no sign-in, no phone number, no email, no loyalty code, and no device identifier. There is no customer table in our database to put one in.
Two different people
Local Rips has a seller and a customer, and they are treated completely differently.
The seller
The person who runs the rip game signs up, so we hold what they typed into that form:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Shop name, contact name | To label your run screen and reach you |
| Email address | Confirming sign-up, and recovering your sets on a new device. Verified. |
| Mobile number | Optional contact. Stored unverified; we do not send you SMS today. |
| Street (optional), city, state, ZIP | Placing your shop on the map. The ZIP is converted to approximate coordinates. |
| Where you sell, inventory size, next event, notes | Understanding who is using this and what to build next |
| Your logo and accent colour | Rendering your brand on the pack, the screen and the share card |
The customer
Nothing. A seller holds out their own screen, the customer holds a pack, sees what they got, and is handed a card. At no point are they asked for anything, and at no point is anything about them written down.
The share card a customer can save is drawn in their own browser and is never uploaded to us. If they save it, it goes to their device. If they do not, it disappears.
What is recorded when a pack is ripped
A rip writes a row describing the item and the set — which card came out, its listed price, how much of the set is left, and the shop's city. There is no price for a rip anywhere in our records: the seller names it at the table and takes the money themselves. That row is how a seller sees their own pull log and how we know the product is being used.
It contains no field that describes the customer, because none exists.
Money
Digital Towns never touches the payment. The customer pays the seller directly, on the seller's own register, by whatever means the two of them agree. We take no cut, process no cards, and hold no payment credentials. Local Rips has no in-app purchases.
Who else sees it
- We do not sell data. Not seller data, and there is no customer data to sell.
- Email is delivered by our mail provider so that a sign-up link can reach you.
- ZIP codes are converted to approximate coordinates using a public postal lookup. Only the ZIP is sent; your name, email and street are not.
- We disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Seller records and set history are kept while the account is in use. Unclicked sign-up links expire after fifteen minutes and are deleted.
Deleting your data
Email [email protected] from the address you signed up with and ask. We will delete your seller record, your sets and your pull history. There is nothing to delete on behalf of your customers, because nothing was ever collected about them.
Children
Local Rips is a tool for people running a business. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Security
Sign-up links are single-use, expire in fifteen minutes, and are stored hashed rather than in plain text. Your operator key is what opens your run screen, and you can rotate it at any time from that screen, which immediately invalidates the old one.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, for anything that affects what we collect, email the sellers it affects.
