Who plays baseball at Knecht Park?

Knecht Park is the home field of Palm Bay East Little League, one of two Little League programs the City of Palm Bay lists as community partners for youth baseball.

The Palm Bay Recreation athletic leagues page lists Palm Bay East Little League (PBELL) Knecht Park under youth baseball, and places Palm Bay West Little League at Lynne Manion Nungesser Park and Lynbrook Park (Palm Bay athletic leagues). Knecht Park is the only home field the city lists for Palm Bay East. The city page directs families to email the league or visit the PBELL website for more information.

The park drew district play in 2025. A City of Palm Bay news release posted June 18, 2025 reported that the Palm Bay East Little League 13- to 14-year-old All-Star team won the District Championship with an undefeated 5-0 record, the first Palm Bay East district title since 2017 (City of Palm Bay news, June 18, 2025). Many of the tournament games were hosted at the team's home field, Knecht Park, a first for District 2, according to the release. The championship game itself was played at Max K. Rodes in West Melbourne, and the team was set to play a Section 2 series at Sportsman Park in Port St. Lucie.

Fields not booked by the league can be rented from Palm Bay Recreation. Ballfield rentals need approval from the Athletics Supervisor, cost $15 per hour plus tax with lights at $30 per hour plus tax, and organized practices or games require liability insurance (Palm Bay rentals page). The fee schedule in Resolution 2025-31 sets a 2-hour minimum, a $15 per hour light rate for community partners such as PBELL, and $100 per day plus tax for tournament field rental (Resolution 2025-31, page 7).

What work has Palm Bay done on Knecht Park Field #3?

Palm Bay renovated Field #3 at Knecht Park in 2023 with new fill, a new irrigation system and fresh Bermuda sod, and announced the finished field on September 25, 2023.

City Public Works staff did the early fill work. At the August 1, 2023 meeting of the Palm Bay Recreation Advisory Board, the parks report stated that the Knecht Park Field 3 infield was being refurbished and that Public Works Department staff had put down fifty (50) loads of fill from another city owned property (Recreation Advisory Board minutes, August 1, 2023, page 2). New irrigation was being installed at the time, and Bermuda sod was to be purchased once the irrigation was complete.

The city closed the item out in its news feed. A post dated 09/25/2023 said the Palm Bay Parks and Facilities Department recently finished the renovation of Field #3 at Knecht Park, which was outfitted with fresh Bermuda sod and a new irrigation system (City of Palm Bay news, September 25, 2023).

How are the Knecht Park pavilions rented, and what do they cost?

Knecht Park pavilion space rents whole at $90 a day or by side at $65 a day, and the small Knecht #2 shelter has two different listed rates.

Palm Bay's PlayOnline system explains the layout. The Knecht North listing says the pavilion seats approximately 35 people on either side, and can be rented separately (one side as a standard pavilion) or together (as a large pavilion) (PlayOnline, Knecht Pavilion North). Knecht Pavilion North is located closest to the ballfield, while the Knecht South listing places that side closest to the parking lot (PlayOnline, Knecht Pavilion South). Each side has a grill and water fountains, and electricity is included in the fee.

Booked as one space, the Knecht Large Pavilion seats approximately 50 people total and rents at the $90 large-pavilion-with-electric rate (PlayOnline, Knecht Large Pavilion). The rentals page lists Knecht #1 in that $90 class and Knecht North and Knecht South in the $65 standard class (Palm Bay rentals page).

The Knecht #2 figures conflict between the two Palm Bay sources. The rentals page lists Small Pavilion Rentals without Amenities (Knecht #2, Oak View, and Woodard) are $25 a day plus tax (Palm Bay rentals page), while Exhibit A of Resolution 2025-31 lists Knecht #2 as a small pavilion with electric at $40 a day in both FY 25 and FY 26 (Resolution 2025-31, page 6).

What booking rules apply at Knecht Park?

Knecht Park pavilions are booked online through Palm Bay PlayOnline between 365 and 5 days ahead, with evening cutoffs that change with the season and on Sundays.

All three Knecht listings on PlayOnline carry one shared set of limits. The booking window opens a year out (365 days) and shuts 5 days before the party; a spring, summer or early fall rental (March to October) must wrap up by 8:00 pm, while winter months and every Sunday stop at 5:00 pm (PlayOnline, Knecht Pavilion North). The north and south sides each carry a maximum capacity of 35, and the large booking a headcount limit of 50 (PlayOnline, Knecht Large Pavilion).

Palm Bay Recreation adds the citywide terms: reservations are first-come, first-served, generally accepted up to one year in advance, and contracts are required for all rentals (Palm Bay rentals page). Pavilions are available 7 days a week from dawn to dusk and can be rented on holidays, unlike the Tony Rosa and Ted Whitlock community centers.
