Public Schools in Palm Bay — Palm Bay, Florida

Palm Bay has 14 Brevard Public Schools campuses with Palm Bay addresses (11 elementary, 1 middle, 2 high) plus 6 charter schools, by the federal NCES directory, while the City of Palm Bay counts 11 elementary, 3 middle, 3 high and 3 charter schools.

The city's own figure comes from its new resident page, which states that Palm Bay has eleven public elementary schools, three middle schools, three high schools and three charter schools (City of Palm Bay new resident information). The page does not name the schools, so the counts cannot be matched school by school. It lists City Hall at 120 Malabar Road, Palm Bay, FL 32907.

A search of the NCES Common Core of Data for public schools in a city named Palm Bay returns 23 results (NCES Palm Bay search, page 1; page 2). Three are in Palmetto Bay in Miami-Dade County and drop out, leaving 20 Brevard County schools with Palm Bay mailing addresses. Of those 20, 14 are district schools and 6 are charter schools, by the arithmetic 23 minus 3 equals 20, and 20 minus 14 equals 6.

The elementary count agrees: both the city and NCES show eleven district elementary schools in Palm Bay. The middle and high school counts differ because only Southwest Middle, Bayside High and Heritage High carry Palm Bay addresses, while Palm Bay Magnet High lists 101 Pirate Lane, Melbourne, FL 32901 (Palm Bay Magnet High). Last verified: October 13, 2026, against the NCES directory and the City of Palm Bay website.

Palm Bay's eleven district elementary schools all serve prekindergarten through grade 6 and spread across four ZIP Codes, from Riviera Dr NE in 32905 to Degroodt Rd SW in 32908 and Jupiter Blvd SE in 32909.

Every address and enrollment figure in the table is from the NCES Palm Bay search, which notes that names, addresses and phone numbers are preliminary 2025-2026 directory data and that student counts come from the official 2024-2025 file (NCES Palm Bay search, page 1; page 2). Westside Elementary on Degroodt Rd SW is the largest Palm Bay elementary at 984 students and Lockmar Elementary on Pepper St NE the smallest at 572.

Adding the eleven NCES counts gives 7,790 Palm Bay elementary students in 2024-2025: 687 plus 576, 679, 600, 856, 572, 583, 628, 718, 907 and 984. Turner Elementary, listed by NCES as John F. Turner Senior Elementary, sits on Jupiter Boulevard SE, and Port Malabar Elementary is on Pioneer Ave NE in the 32907 ZIP Code.

Three district secondary schools have Palm Bay addresses: Southwest Middle at 451 Eldron Blvd SE (grades 7 and 8), Bayside High at 1901 Degroodt Rd SW and Heritage High at 2351 Malabar Rd NW (both grades 9 to 12).

Southwest Middle's school page confirms the Eldron Blvd. SE address and the phone line 321-952-5800 (Southwest Middle). Bayside High on Degroodt Road and Heritage High on Malabar Road are the two largest public schools of any level with Palm Bay addresses, at 2,122 and 1,960 students in the NCES count (NCES Palm Bay search, page 1).

Palm Bay Magnet High uses the Palm Bay name but a Melbourne mailing address, so it does not appear in a Palm Bay address search; its school page gives 101 Pirate Lane, Melbourne, and the phone (321) 952-5900 (Palm Bay Magnet High). Adding Southwest Middle, Bayside High and Heritage High to the elementary total gives 12,869 students in the 14 district schools with Palm Bay addresses: 7,790 plus 997, 2,122 and 1,960.

NCES lists six public charter schools with Palm Bay addresses, from Odyssey Charter School on Eldron Blvd SE to Pineapple Cove Classical Academy on Minton Road and Royal Palm Charter School on Babcock Street NE.

The six Palm Bay charter entries in the NCES search enrolled 4,877 students in 2024-2025 (1,917 plus 462, 370, 1,065, 724 and 339), led by Odyssey Charter School at 1,917 (NCES Palm Bay search, page 1; page 2). The city's new resident page counts three charter schools for Palm Bay; NCES lists Odyssey and Pineapple Cove each as two separate entries, one way the city and federal totals could diverge, though the city page names none of them.

Charter schools receive state grades in the same file as district schools. Pineapple Cove Classical Academy at Lockmar on Emerson Drive is flagged as a charter school and earned a B with 64 percent of points in 2025-26 (FLDOE row, Pineapple Cove at Lockmar).

In the 2025-26 grades released as of September 1, 2026, two Palm Bay elementaries earned an A (Riviera and Port Malabar), seven earned a B and two a C, Southwest Middle earned a C, and Bayside High and Heritage High each earned a B.

Each figure links to its row in the state file: Riviera, Port Malabar, Heritage, McAuliffe, Bayside, Sunrise, Westside, Discovery, Columbia, Jupiter, Southwest Middle, Palm Bay Elementary, Lockmar and Turner. Palm Bay Magnet High, outside the Palm Bay address list, earned a C with 56 percent (FLDOE row, Palm Bay Magnet).

Percent of points does not compare evenly across levels in Palm Bay, because the scales differ: an elementary A starts at 62 percent, a middle school A at 64 and a high school A at 65 (FLDOE grading scale note). That is why Palm Bay Elementary's 54 is a B while Southwest Middle's 55 is a C, and why Lockmar Elementary at 53 sits just one point under the elementary B line.

The state file also marks Title I status. Nine of the eleven Palm Bay elementaries are Title I; Westside Elementary on Degroodt Rd SW (FLDOE Title I, Westside) and Sunrise Elementary on Mara Loma Blvd SE (FLDOE Title I, Sunrise) are not.

Only the superintendent of Brevard Public Schools can close Palm Bay's district schools for extreme weather, according to the City of Palm Bay's emergency preparedness page, which lists the district phone as (321) 633-1000, extension 797.

The city page says that should the district close, BPS will communicate the closure to parents, teachers and staff through its rapid notification system, by voicemail and email, and that subscribers to the BPS mobile app also receive a push notification (City of Palm Bay emergency preparedness). The City of Palm Bay page, published from City Hall at 120 Malabar Road, leaves the closure decision to the school district.

For a single school, the campus office is the contact. McAuliffe Elementary lists (321) 768-0465 at 155 Del Mundo St. N.W. (McAuliffe Elementary), and every Palm Bay school's phone appears in the NCES search alongside its address. The McAuliffe and Palm Bay Magnet High school pages also list the district ethics hotline, 321-633-1000 x11170 (Palm Bay Magnet High).
