IR Prep, Vero Beach area

IR Prep is a district-run secondary school of the School District of Indian River County with a Vero Beach mailing address, listed by the district among its specialty schools.

The district's 2026-2027 Parent Guide places IR Prep under the heading Specialty Schools in its bell schedule, next to Wabasso School, and its school contact table gives IR Prep the grades entry Secondary Only, phone 564-6240 and the tag #MyIRPREP (SDIRC 2026-2027 Parent Guide). The federal school search lists ir prep in Vero Beach with 62 students and grades 5-12, figures NCES dates to official 2024-2025 school data (NCES school list for Indian River).

The school's own website is a district template page headed IR Prep, with menu links for the school's story, families, dining, transportation, community connections and instructional materials, and a contact block with main number (772) 564-6240 and fax (772) 564-6265 (IR Prep website). Program descriptions are not printed on that Vero Beach home page.

Three official sources give three different Vero Beach area street addresses for IR Prep: the school website, the district Parent Guide and the NCES school list.

The website's Find Us block reads IR Prep, 4680 28th Ct, Vero Beach, FL 32967 (IR Prep website). The Parent Guide prints IR Prep at 1707 16th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960 (Parent Guide, page 15). The NCES list prints 1507 19TH STREET, VERO BEACH, FL 32960 (NCES list), and NCES notes that its directory name, address and phone fields are preliminary data from initial 2025-2026 submissions.

Two of the addresses are shared with other district campuses in the same Parent Guide. Its contact table gives Treasure Coast Technical College the address 4680 28th Court, Vero Beach, FL 32967, phone 564-4970, and gives both Vero Beach High School and Vero Beach Middle School the address 1707 16th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960 (Parent Guide school contact table). All three IR Prep sources print the same phone number, 564-6240.

That depends on which published address is used: the Census geocoder puts the school website's address in Gifford CDP and both other addresses inside the City of Vero Beach.

A geocoder query for 4680 28th Court, Vero Beach, FL 32967 matched 4680 28TH CT, VERO BEACH, FL, 32967 and returned Gifford CDP, GEOID 1225925, with no incorporated place (Census geocoder, 4680 28th Court). The Gifford community guide covers that census designated place.

For the Parent Guide's 1707 16th Street, the lookup found 1707 16TH ST, VERO BEACH, FL, 32960 inside Vero Beach city, GEOID 1274150 (Census geocoder, 1707 16th Street). The NCES address, 1507 19th Street, came back as 1507 19TH ST, VERO BEACH, FL, 32960, also inside Vero Beach city (Census geocoder, 1507 19th Street).

The IR Prep website for the Vero Beach area school shows 8:30 am to 3:40 pm, while the Parent Guide lists a 9:00 a.m. start and a 3:40 p.m. dismissal; both are published by the district.

The Vero Beach area hours appear in the banner of the IR Prep home page beside its main number, 772-564-6240 (IR Prep website). The Parent Guide's School Schedules list sets IR Prep, under Specialty Schools, to start at 9:00 a.m. and dismiss at 3:40 p.m., and it prints no modified-day times for the specialty schools (Parent Guide, school schedules).

IR Prep keeps a schedule of its own rather than one of the district's three bell tiers. When the School Board set the 2026-2027 start and dismissal times at 7:20 AM to 2:07 PM for high schools, 8:10 AM to 2:51 PM for middle and K-8 schools and 9:00 AM to 3:40 PM for elementary schools, the district's announcement added that Wabasso School and IR PREP will continue to operate on independent schedules (SDIRC announcement on 2026-2027 start times). Both IR Prep sources list a 3:40 p.m. dismissal for the Vero Beach area school, and the start times they print differ.

IR Prep, the Vero Beach area specialty school, has no row in the Indian River section of the state's 2025-26 school grades file, so no 2026 letter grade is published for it there.

The FLDOE workbook titled 2025-26 School Grades as of September 1, 2026 lists Indian River schools in rows 1727 through 1751, from VERO BEACH HIGH SCHOOL to a K12 FLORIDA, LLC virtual provider row, and none of those rows names IR Prep (FLDOE 2025-26 school grades workbook).

The Indian River County schools guide links the district's other school pages, including the graded campuses with Vero Beach, Gifford and Sebastian addresses.

The Parent Guide lists two specialty schools, IR Prep and Wabasso School, and gives each its own hours outside the district's elementary, middle and high school tiers.

Wabasso School appears in the same Specialty Schools list with a start of 8:30 a.m. and a dismissal of 2:45 p.m., while IR Prep's line reads 9:00 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. (Parent Guide, school schedules). In the contact table, Wabasso School sits at 8895 US Hwy 1, Sebastian, FL 32970, phone 978-8000, with the grades entry All grades, and IR Prep carries the entry Secondary Only. The district's start-time announcement names the same pair, Wabasso School and IR PREP, as the campuses that continue on independent schedules (SDIRC start-time announcement).

The two specialty schools differ in where official sources place them. Wabasso School has a single Sebastian address in the Parent Guide, while IR Prep's three published Vero Beach area addresses are set out earlier on this page. The Wabasso community guide covers the area around the Sebastian address, and the Gifford community guide covers the CDP that holds the IR Prep website's address.

The Vero Beach area school's main number is (772) 564-6240, its fax is (772) 564-6265, and district bus questions go through the Find My Bus or School tool or the routing line.

Both numbers appear in the contact block of the IR Prep site for the Vero Beach area campus, which also links a Transportation page, a FortifyFL reporting link and a public records link (IR Prep website). Bus eligibility for a Vero Beach area secondary student is looked up by address: the Parent Guide's Can I Ride a Bus tool returns the zone school, the assigned stop and pickup and drop-off times, and the routing office at 772-978-8801, option 2, handles addresses the tool cannot place (Parent Guide transportation section).
