Which sports leagues play in Palm Bay?

Palm Bay Recreation hosts an Adult Pickleball League at the Ted Whitlock Community Center, and the city lists 14 community partner organizations for youth and adult sports on Palm Bay parks and gyms.

The City of Palm Bay offers youth leagues and adult leagues for a variety of sports, and the Recreation Department describes those leagues as operated by the City as well as through partnerships with established athletic organizations (City of Palm Bay, Athletic Leagues). Palm Bay Recreation takes pickleball league registration online at playonline.palmbayfl.gov, while youth baseball, basketball, football, cheerleading, soccer, softball and boxing, along with adult cricket and ultimate frisbee, appear under the City of Palm Bay Community Partners heading, each with its own email contact or website.

For each partner the city page gives a home park and an email or website link for more information; it does not print registration dates, age divisions or season dates for the partner leagues. The table below groups every Palm Bay league on the city list by sport and venue.

Where do Palm Bay youth leagues play?

Palm Bay youth leagues are tied to six parks and the two city gyms: Little League at Knecht, Nungesser and Lynbrook, football at Fred Poppe, Fred Lee and Veterans Memorial, and basketball and boxing indoors.

Baseball has an East and a West Little League. Palm Bay East Little League calls Knecht Park home, while Palm Bay West Little League is listed at two parks, Lynne Manion Nungesser Park and Lynbrook Park (City of Palm Bay, Athletic Leagues). Knecht Park sits at 1380 Glenham Dr NE with lighted baseball and softball fields, and Lynbrook Park at 695 Lynbrook Rd. NW has a lighted softball field (City of Palm Bay, City Parks). Lynne Manion Nungesser Park, at 1161 Lamplighter Dr NW, lists baseball fields both lit and unlit (City Parks, page 2).

Knecht Park also shows what the east side league can do. In June 2025 the Palm Bay East Little League 13 to 14 All-Stars won the District 2 championship with an undefeated 5-0 record, the first time a Palm Bay East team had claimed a district title since 2017, and many of the tournament games were hosted at Knecht Park (City of Palm Bay News, June 18, 2025).

Youth football and cheerleading in Palm Bay has three separate associations, each with its own field. The Bayside Bears use Fred Poppe Regional Park, the Palm Bay Rockets Pop Warner program uses Fred Lee Park, and the Palm Bay Youth Athletic Association uses Veterans Memorial Park (Athletic Leagues). Veterans Memorial Park, at 2201 Port Malabar Blvd NE, is the one Palm Bay park in the directory with a lighted football field (City Parks, page 2). Fred Lee Park, at 895 Emerson Dr. NE, has a lighted multi-purpose field and a lighted softball field (City Parks).

Soccer and softball concentrate at Fred Poppe Regional Park, 1951 Malabar Rd NW, which the Palm Bay directory credits with lighted baseball, softball and soccer fields plus a cricket ground and a disc golf course (City Parks). Brevard Soccer Alliance and the Palm Bay Youth Softball Association both list Fred Poppe as home, while Palm Bay Fast Pitch plays at Fred Lee Park (Athletic Leagues).

Indoors, the Palm Bay Youth Basketball Association uses the Ted Whitlock Community Center on Championship Circle NW and the Tony Rosa Community Center on Port Malabar Blvd. Round13 Boxing, open to ages 8 and up, trains at Tony Rosa on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:30 PM to 7 PM (Athletic Leagues).

What adult leagues play in Palm Bay, and on which nights?

Adult league play in Palm Bay runs on weeknights, with three softball leagues sharing Liberty Park on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and the city pickleball league at Ted Whitlock midweek.

Liberty Park, at 895 Carlyle Ave SE, is the adult softball hub of Palm Bay, with lighted softball fields and covered bleachers (City of Palm Bay, City Parks). Liberty Park hosts three adult softball leagues on three different nights. On Tuesdays the Brevard Church Softball Association schedules 7 PM doubleheaders at Liberty Park, adding Fred Poppe Regional Park if necessary. Thursday is Brevard Senior Softball night: the 45-and-over league opens its doubleheaders at 6:45 PM and accepts individual players of all levels. The general Athletic Leagues page still describes a cap of 48 teams per season and start times of 6:30, 7:30 or 8:30 PM, while the Palm Bay Pickleball page gives the winter 2026 figures above.

Field sports for adults center on Fred Poppe Regional Park. The Brevard Caribbean American Sports and Cultural Association plays cricket there, and Space Coast Ultimate lists Fred Poppe as its home for ultimate frisbee (Athletic Leagues).

What does it cost to play or rent a field in Palm Bay?

Palm Bay sets ballfield charges in Resolution 2025-31: $15 an hour plus tax to rent a field for at least two hours and $30 an hour plus tax for lights, while each partner league sets its own player fees.

Resolution 2025-31 adopted the FY 2025-2026 rates, charges and fees for the Palm Bay Recreation Department under Chapter 36 of the city code (Resolution 2025-31, page 1). Its ballfield section keeps field rental at $15 an hour plus tax with a two hour minimum and the light fee at $30 an hour plus tax. Community partners, the youth and adult leagues on the city list, pay a reduced $15 an hour for field lights (Resolution 2025-31, Exhibit A, page 7).

Tournaments on Palm Bay fields carry staffing rules. Tournaments using one to two fields need at least one city employee, and tournaments using three to four fields need at least two, with the hourly staff rate amended from $35 to $45 in the FY 2026 schedule (Resolution 2025-31, page 8). The same page lets the Recreation Director adjust tournament fees based on tourism impact reported by the TDC Sports Commission of the Brevard County Tourist Development Council.

Adult league team fees in Palm Bay have no fixed dollar figure in the resolution. The Recreation Director or a designee approves them, and they must include indirect program costs and a percentage of the costs of electricity, field maintenance and staff coordination (Resolution 2025-31, page 13).

Boxing at the Tony Rosa Community Center is the one partner program with fees printed on the Palm Bay page. The monthly training fee is $25 for ages 8 to 16 and $45 for ages 17 and up; USA Boxing registration costs $75, $80 or $85 by age; the club fee is $30 a year; and each boxer needs a Tony Rosa membership (City of Palm Bay, Athletic Leagues).

How do Palm Bay teams get field time, and who referees?

Palm Bay field time now goes through a citywide review, with groups emailing the Recreation Department for scheduling, and league officials must clear a city background and fingerprint check.

The City of Palm Bay says it is reviewing all athletic field usage to ensure fair access, prevent overuse of city facilities and prioritize programs that provide the greatest public benefit to Palm Bay residents; groups seeking scheduling consideration email playpalmbay@palmbayfl.gov (City of Palm Bay, Athletic Facilities Request Form). Separately, Resolution 2025-31 gives community partners a $15 hourly rate for field lights (Resolution 2025-31, Exhibit A, page 7).

Palm Bay Recreation recruits sports officials for both adult and youth leagues. Officials must pass a background and fingerprint check through the city HR Department to be eligible, and the Athletic Leagues page gives the Tony Rosa line, (321) 952-3443, for inquiries (City of Palm Bay, Athletic Leagues). The same page lists a second number as 321-953-3231, while the Ted Whitlock Community Center number elsewhere on the Palm Bay site is (321) 952-3231.

Weather calls go through one Palm Bay number. The Athletic Leagues page lists a rain out hotline, 321-952-3445 (City of Palm Bay, Athletic Leagues).
