Where can people play pickleball in Palm Bay?

Palm Bay has public pickleball indoors at the Ted Whitlock and Tony Rosa community centers and outdoors on lighted combo pickleball and tennis courts at Fred Lee Park, Ken Greene Memorial Park and Veterans Memorial Park.

The City of Palm Bay pickleball page counts seven indoor courts across the two gyms. The Ted Whitlock Community Center has four indoor pickleball courts, and the Tony Rosa Community Center has three indoor pickleball courts (City of Palm Bay, Palm Bay Pickleball). Ted Whitlock sits at 370 Championship Cir. NW inside Fred Poppe Regional Park (City of Palm Bay, Ted Whitlock Community Center), and Tony Rosa sits at 1502 Port Malabar Blvd. NE (City of Palm Bay, Tony Rosa Community Center).

Outdoor play is spread over three parks in northeast Palm Bay on the same page. Fred Lee Park, 895 Emerson Dr NE, has four outdoor lighted combo courts. When is indoor open court pickleball at Ted Whitlock and Tony Rosa?

Indoor open court pickleball in Palm Bay runs four mornings a week at Ted Whitlock and three mornings a week at Tony Rosa, with both gyms open for play on Saturday morning.

At Ted Whitlock the posted open court hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 AM to 1 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 12:30 PM. At Tony Rosa the hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 9 AM to 12 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 12:30 PM. The Palm Bay Recreation Department marks every one of these slots as subject to change based upon availability (City of Palm Bay, Palm Bay Pickleball), and the mixer notes on the same page add that the mixer schedule can shift for holidays or voting activities in the gymnasium.

Getting onto an indoor court costs money at both centers. Everyone entering the gym must either pay the $2 daily guest fee or have an active membership, and guest fees are non-refundable (City of Palm Bay, Palm Bay Pickleball). The Palm Bay memberships page sets a 1-month membership at $10, a 3-month membership at $25, an adult (18 to 54) annual membership at $75, and a senior (55+) annual membership at $45. Memberships purchased at the Tony Rosa Community Center may also be used at the Ted Whitlock Community Center (City of Palm Bay, Memberships), so one card covers both Port Malabar Blvd. NE and Championship Cir. NW.

Age rules for the Palm Bay gyms apply to pickleball as well. All guests under 18 need a waiver signed by a parent or guardian; guests under 9 can use the court only when directly supervised by a parent or guardian over 17; and no one under 5 is allowed in the gym during open gym (City of Palm Bay, Palm Bay Pickleball).

Which Palm Bay parks have outdoor pickleball and tennis courts?

The City of Palm Bay lists shared pickleball and tennis courts at five parks, Fred Lee, Ken Greene Memorial, Veterans Memorial, Lynne Manion Nungesser and Driskell Memorial, though its pickleball page names only the first three for open play.

The City Parks directory is broader than the pickleball page. It lists lighted Pickleball/Tennis Court(s) at Lynne Manion Nungesser Park, 1161 Lamplighter Dr NW, which also has a separate tennis court, and at Veterans Memorial Park (City of Palm Bay, City Parks page 2). Lynne Manion Nungesser Park is open from 7am until 10pm, and its facility page lists bike, hike and jogging trails and a lighted basketball court beside the courts (City of Palm Bay, Lynne Manion Nungesser Park). On the same northwest side of Palm Bay, the Ted Whitlock gym in Fred Poppe Regional Park covers indoor play.

Driskell Memorial Park, 2155 Monroe St NE, also carries a Pickleball/Tennis Court(s) listing. Its facility page said the park would be fully closed beginning April 27 for renovations, with reopening anticipated by June 30, covering a restroom remodel, about 1,000 linear feet of sidewalk and new basketball court surfaces (City of Palm Bay, Driskell Memorial Park). The page does not give a year for those dates; the April 7, 2026 Recreation Advisory Board report lists a full restroom remodel at Driskell Park among projects funded with released CDBG money (Recreation Advisory Board minutes, April 7, 2026).

Fred Lee Park reads differently in two city listings. The pickleball page calls its four courts lighted combo pickleball/tennis courts, while the Fred Lee facility page lists Tennis Court(s) and Tennis Court(s) - Lighted with hours of 7am until 10pm (City of Palm Bay, Fred Lee Park). Both are City of Palm Bay pages; players looking for pickleball lines at Fred Lee Park on Emerson Dr NE can call the number on the city listing, (321) 952-3443, to confirm.

Ken Greene Memorial Park on Riviera Dr NE shares its single court with a dog park, a lighted basketball court and a playground, with hours of 7am until 10pm (City of Palm Bay, Ken Greene Memorial Park). Veterans Memorial Park on Port Malabar Blvd NE adds a lighted football field, a bathing lake and pavilions (City of Palm Bay, Veterans Memorial Park).

How does the Palm Bay adult pickleball league work?

Palm Bay Recreation runs adult pickleball leagues for players 16 and older indoors at the Ted Whitlock Community Center, with teams of two to four players in skill divisions playing Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

The Winter Adult Pickleball League at Ted Whitlock begins Wednesday, November 4, with games starting between 6 and 8 PM. Advanced Division games are played on Wednesday evenings. Beginner and Intermediate teams are assigned to Wednesday or Thursday once registration closes, then keep that night each week (City of Palm Bay, Palm Bay Pickleball). Players under 18 need a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

The team fee is $50 for two players, plus $5 for each additional player, with a maximum of four players per roster. That fee covers a 10-game regular season and a one-night postseason playoff tournament. Space is limited to 32 teams, and the registration deadline is Wednesday, October 21 (all dates as posted on the City of Palm Bay pickleball page, checked October 13, 2026).

Several Palm Bay league rules shape a roster. Teams may be men's, women's or mixed and need at least two players; two players from each team must be present for every league game or the team forfeits; and off-roster substitutes are not permitted, which is why the city encourages registering at least three players. Each week a team plays three games against one opponent, and all line calls use the honor system (City of Palm Bay, Palm Bay Pickleball). Questions go to the Ted Whitlock Community Center at (321) 952-3231.

What are the monthly pickleball mixers at Ted Whitlock?

The Ted Whitlock Community Center hosts a recreational pickleball mixer on the second Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, open to all skill levels for players 18 and older at $5 per person.

Players rotate partners and opponents every game, and awards go to the top male and top female players plus one random drawing winner at each mixer (City of Palm Bay, Palm Bay Pickleball). Registration runs through the city's Play Online system and opens 10 days before each event, two Fridays prior.

Capacity at the Palm Bay mixer is 16 players. Once 16 participants are registered, any additional registrants go to a waitlist, and if the waitlist also reaches 16, staff contact those players about next steps. A newer attendance rule applies: a player who signs up and misses a mixer without notifying staff by the Friday before is barred from signing up for the next two months.

What court projects has Palm Bay funded or requested?

Palm Bay finished most of a CDBG-funded tennis and pickleball court project at Ken Greene Memorial Park in 2025, and its FY 2027 request list adds $584,982 for Nungesser Park tennis courts and $250,000 for FPRP pickleball courts.

At the August 12, 2025 Recreation Advisory Board meeting, the Palm Bay Parks Manager reported that the Ken Greene Memorial Park tennis court and pickleball project, paid for with fiscal year 2025 Community Development Block Grant funds, was mostly complete, with only the accessible ramp and sod installation pending (Recreation Advisory Board minutes, August 12, 2025).

The FY 2027 proposed budget lists Nungesser Pk Demo/Reconstruct Tennis as a $584,982 capital request in its personnel, operating and capital funding request list (City of Palm Bay FY 2027 Proposed Budget, page 89). The same page lists FPRP 16 Pickle Ball Courts as a $250,000 capital request. The request list is a listing of all FY 2027 budget requests submitted by departments, with funded requests shown in a separate section (City of Palm Bay FY 2027 Proposed Budget, page 87), and neither line appears among the funded requests, so both are requests, not approved projects.

Groups that want a Palm Bay gym court for private play can rent it. Resolution 2025-31 sets the fiscal year 2025-2026 gymnasium rate at $60 plus tax per hour for a full court and $35 plus tax for a half court on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with higher weekend rates and a four-hour weekend minimum (City of Palm Bay Resolution 2025-31, Exhibit A).
