Short answer: Sebastian's city parks hold 11 playgrounds. The City of Sebastian age chart rates Hardee and Schumann Drive parks for ages 2 to 5; Bryant Court, Easy Street and George Street for ages 5 to 12; and Blossom Street, Riverview Park and Creative Playground at Barber Street for both, with the pirate ship for 2 to 5. Friendship Park's playground is listed for all ages.

Which Sebastian parks have playgrounds?
The City of Sebastian lists 11 playgrounds in its parks, and its Playground Recommended Age Chart rates nine of them by the manufacturer's age band, either 2 to 5 years or 5 to 12 years.
The count comes from the city's Integrated Pest Management plan for parks, which inventories 10 tennis courts, 11 playgrounds, 8 pickleball courts, a dog park, a splash pad and a skate park across Sebastian's park system (City of Sebastian IPM page). The age chart is the more useful document for a parent. The Parks and Recreation Department says the chart provides the playground manufacturers recommended age for the equipment located within each playground in the City of Sebastian's parks (Playground Recommended Age Chart).
Those bands are the equipment makers' ratings, posted by Sebastian Parks and Recreation as guidance; the chart itself sets no entry rule. Its value is practical: a family with a toddler, or with a ten-year-old, can see which park on the Sebastian map was equipped for that age before driving across the Highlands.
The chart groups Sebastian's playgrounds three ways. Three charted sites carry equipment in both bands: Blossom Street Park, Creative Playground at Barber Street and Riverview Park. Friendship Park is not on the chart, but its city page describes a playground that the city says can be used by all ages (Friendship Park). Hardee Park and Schumann Drive Park are rated 2 to 5. Bryant Court, Easy Street and George Street are rated 5 to 12.
What ages is each Sebastian playground built for?
Sebastian's age chart rates Hardee and Schumann Drive for ages 2 to 5, Bryant Court, Easy Street and George Street for ages 5 to 12, and Blossom, Riverview and Creative Playground for both.
| Park | Where | Ages 2 to 5 | Ages 5 to 12 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blossom Street Park | Blossom Drive at Cody Avenue | Yes | Yes |
| Bryant Court Park | Bryant Court | No | Yes |
| Creative Playground | Barber Street Sports Complex, 1121 Barber Street | Pirate ship | Larger equipment |
| Easy Street Park | Easy and Lake Street | No | Yes (listed for replacement in 2023) |
| Filbert Street Park | 170 Filbert Street | Listed as closed, replacement scheduled 2023 | |
| George Street Park | Barber and George Streets | No | Yes |
| Hardee Park | North end of Barber Street | Yes | No |
| Riverview Park | 600 U.S. Highway 1 | Small set | Large set |
| Schumann Drive Park | Schumann Drive | Yes | No |
The chart's wording is brief: Blossom Park is listed for ages 2 to 5 and 5 to 12, Bryant Court Park for 5 to 12, Hardee Park for 2 to 5, and Riverview Park with a small set for 2 to 5 and a large set for 5 to 12 (City of Sebastian age chart). The table above follows the chart line by line; the locations come from each park's city page.
Two entries are out of date on their face. The chart still marks Easy Street Park for scheduled replacement in 2023 and lists the Filbert Street Park playground as closed, with replacement scheduled for 2023. The Filbert Street city page now describes a playground, shade shelters, open space and benches at 170 Filbert Street, which suggests the closure note has not been updated, but no city record checked for this page confirms the date the new Filbert and Easy Street equipment opened. The chart also leaves out Friendship Park, behind City Hall, even though the city lists a playground there.
Shade and restrooms vary as much as ages do. On their city pages, Blossom Street Park, Filbert Street Park and Schumann Drive Park list shade shelters, and Easy Street Park lists shaded picnic tables beside its playground on Easy Lake (Easy Street Park). Hardee Park, on the north end of Barber Street at the Lake Drive Bridge, pairs its 2 to 5 playground with a half mile walking trail and restroom facilities (Hardee Park), and Riverview Park and Schumann Drive Park also list restrooms. Bryant Court, George Street and Filbert Street list benches or picnic tables on their city pages but no restrooms.
What is at Creative Playground on Barber Street?
Creative Playground is the playground inside the Barber Street Sports Complex, where Sebastian's chart rates its pirate ship for ages 2 to 5 and its larger equipment for ages 5 to 12.
The city lists Creative Playground among the Barber Street Sports Complex facilities, next to two Little League fields, three multi-purpose fields, the Skate Park, two basketball courts and two batting cages (Barber Street Sports Complex). That puts it beside the fields used by Sebastian River Area Little League and Sebastian Sharks Youth Football and Cheerleading, the two youth organizations the city lists as based at the complex.
The pirate ship has a documented start. In June 2012, Vero News reported that the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee had almost $437,000 in recreation impact fees to allocate and planned to use $100,000 for Creative Playground, which was then a field of sand with a couple of swings and one large metal and plastic structure (Vero News, June 26, 2012). In October 2012 the Sebastian City Council authorized buying a pirate ship play structure for the playground at an initial estimate of $77,000 for equipment and installation, within a $100,000 project budget that could also cover shade structures and a pavilion (Vero News, October 25, 2012).
Surfacing changed with it. Vero News reported in November 2012 that the $77,000 ship would cost the city an extra $5,000 for rubber mulch, because ADA requirements would not allow new sand around the equipment, and that rubber mulch was already in use at Blossom Street Park (Vero News, November 27, 2012). The ship was due in Sebastian around the week of December 10, 2012. Older children at Barber Street have one more option: the Skate Park, which requires helmets for every rider and is open daily from 8 a.m. to sunset (City of Sebastian Skate Park).
What do children find at Riverview Park and the Splash Pad?
Riverview Park on U.S. 1 has two playground sets, rated 2 to 5 and 5 to 12, and the free Splash Pad beside it at 710 Harrison Street holds up to 25 children at once.
Riverview Park lists a playground among its features, along with pavilions, picnic areas and restrooms, at 600 U.S. Highway 1 on the corner of C.R. 512 and the Indian River (Riverview Park). The Splash Pad sits alongside the park and charges no admission. The city posts a maximum occupancy of 25, daily hours from 8 a.m. to sunset, and a clear statement that the Splash Pad is not supervised, so participants play at their own risk and should have adult supervision (City of Sebastian Splash Pad).
The Splash Pad at Riverview Park has posted rules that the open playgrounds do not. Food, including gum and candy, glass containers, alcoholic beverages and smoking are prohibited, and pets and personal belongings such as backpacks and coolers are not allowed inside the Splash Pad area. The city may close it for weather, unsafe pavement or any other unsafe condition, and asks that unsafe conditions be reported to Sebastian Parks and Recreation at 772-228-7054.
Which Sebastian playgrounds are due to change?
Riverview Park's playground is the next to change: in January 2026 the Sebastian City Council chose a renovation plan that replaces the aging playground and moves the Splash Pad north of Harrison Street.
Sebastian Daily reported on January 19, 2026 that the council voted 3-2 for Concept C, which keeps Harrison Street open but includes a new playground to replace the aging one, a relocated splash pad north of Harrison Street placed beside the playground, more picnic pavilions and a move of the sand volleyball courts toward the Twin Piers (Sebastian Daily). Funding includes two grants totaling $3.2 million. The tentative schedule ran Phase I design and permitting from January through September 2026, bidding from October to December 2026, and construction from March 2027 to March 2028, so the schedule places any new Riverview Park playground no earlier than 2027.
Elsewhere the inventory is stable. Neighborhood sites such as George Street Park, with slides, swings and picnic tables at Barber and George Streets (George Street Park), and Blossom Street Park, with a pond, swing set, slides and shade shelters (Blossom Street Park) are described on their city pages in terms that match the chart. Schumann Drive Park pairs its 2 to 5 playground with a swing set, shade shelters and restrooms beside the tennis courts (Schumann Drive Park).
